7. GAS TUNGSTEN ARC WELDING (G.T.A.W.)
This course is designed to teach students the manual process
Gas Tungsten Arc (T.I.G.) Welding on carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum.

Theory

  1. Welding Safety
  2. Power sources and Wire feeders Welding Gases
  3. Weld Parameters
  4. Wire Identification
  5. Basic Machine Maintenance
  6. Tungsten and Material preparation

Practical

  1. T– Travel Speed
    A – Gun Angle
    L – Arc Length (tip to work)
    C – Welding Current (amperage voltage)
  2. Setting proper gas flow
  3. Running a line of fusion
  4. Running weld beads with filler wire
  5. Welding horizontal fillet welds, lap joints and tee joints
  6. Welding out of position using free hand and rolling the
  7. Learning the set up and the practical use of a purging gas
